Two teenage boys posted their apology on youtube, but the victim of the 32 ounce soda thrown through the drive-thru window says it’s not enough. Jessica Ceponis, says her face was clearly shown and the boys apology was scripted by their attorney. The stupid prank is called “Fire in the Hole” where a drive-thru customer receives his drink and throws it back at the drive-thru worker.

Youtube crimes are being videod and upload all the time and these kids don’t learn that even though it gets them famous for a few minutes, it’s not the kind of fame kids should be striving for. And the idiots that upload their crimes, get caught! You would think someone would learn that if you upload your idiotic pranks to youtube you will be caught and have to pay the price of the crime and not the publicity.

If you do a search on youtube for Fire in the Hole pranks you’ll find several examples of the prank and several examples of kids getting caught. What some of these kids don’t realize is there are cameras at drive-thrus. Not only their prank gets on youtube, their car and possibly their face gets on the security cameras.

The fast food drive-thru worker wants a face to face apology instead of a scripted bogus sounding, scripted apology uploaded to youtube. You know the old-fashioned kind of apology. Kind of makes it more real when you’re not safely behind your computer screen.

Bathtub cheese, homemade cheese made in bathtubs is spreading a rare drug resistent strain of tuberculosis. The rare strain has been traced to illegally unpasteurized diary products including tainted queso fresco cheese. Hardest hit are the Hispanic immigrants in Southern California. Fearing a comeback of this rare strain that was almost completely irradicated in the US in the 1900s.

San Diego is being seen as the core center of the increase. Mycobacterium bovis TB can infect anyone who eats the unpasteurized dairy products mainly made in backyards. The problem is the cattle in Mexico where M. Bovis infect 17 percent of the herds.

At least this strain of TB isn’t easily spread from human to human contact and lands less often in the lungs. The bad news is the rare TB is drug resistant.

The problem originates in Mexican herds, but immigrants must be carrying their own supplies of milk across the border with them to be able to make it here or they must be making it in Mexico and smuggling it across the border with them as food supplies during the journey. The biggest problem is in San Diego where immigrants go back and forth across the border almost at will.

Bathtub cheese is causing an outbreak of drug resistant TB in the immigrant Hispanic communities in Southern California.

I’m agreeing with Clint Eastwood on this one. He probably didn’t have to actually say, “Spike Lee should “shut his face” about the lack of African-Americans in “Flags of Our Fathers.” He probably could have worded it a little better, but Clint has a point. There was a small detachment of black soldiers on Iwo Jima, but none of them raised helped raise the flag. It’s history, it’s a fact. Just like the 911 memorial committee trying to make the fireman politically correct and not accurate to the people they are supposed represent. If Eastwood put a few black soldiers in the same unit, no one would have believed it. As sad as it may be, the fact is there was major segregation back then.

Spike Lee also complained about, “Letters from Iwo Jima,” which was told the storye of Iwo Jima from the Japanese perspective, mostly in subtitles and featured a mostly Japanese cast.

I’m pretty sure there were no black men in the Japanese Army back then either.

There’s a theory Spike Lee only brought it up to promote and get free publicity for his new movie about a detachment of buffalo soldiers. “Miracle at St. Anna,” about an all-black division that fought the Germans in Italy during World War II.

Is anyone going to mention to Spike Lee he should put some white guys in the 92nd Buffalo Division? Probably not.

Spike Lee was upset at Clint Eastwood for making “Bird”, the movie bio of Charlie Parker. Because Clint was white and making a movie about a black man. Clint’s response - “I was the only guy who made it, that’s why.”

Spike Lee is also upset that Clint’s next move set during the depression before the city’s ethnic make-up was changed, which was mostly white at the time. “What are you going to do, you gonna tell a f****in’ story about that?” he growls. “Make it look like a commercial for an equal opportunity player? I’m not in that game. I’m playing it the way I read it historically, and that’s the way it is. When I do a picture and it’s 90% black, like Bird, I use 90% black people.”

You’re either historically accurate or you’re not. It’s a sad fact the way America was in its past, but it’s still a fact. Spike seems to be the one stirring things up to get publicity for his movie any way he can. In either case Spike Lee and Clint Eastwood should just get over it.

The Salmonella outbreak in the west adds another county in Texas to its list of confirmed salmonella poisoning from tomatoes. Even though the FDA declares that Texas and New Mexico grown tomatoes is not the source of the illnesses. State health department sources still urge people to limit raw tomato consumption to Cherry tomatoes and Grape tomato varieties. The CDC has reported 56 Salmonella cases in Texas and 55 in New Mexico.

The outbreak is even effecting MacDonald’s who says it has stopped serving sliced tomatoes in all of its sandwiches in the United States because of the salmonella fears. Grocery store chains like Wal-Mart will stop selling some types of tomatoes, while the source of the outbreak is still under investigation.

The salmonella outbreaks have spread to 16 states. But the rumors of the salmonella outbreak have affected tomato sells across the entire country.

Salmonella poisoning symptoms generally appear within 12 to 72 hours and include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.

More than 160 people have reported cases of getting sick from salmonella food poisoning in 16 states from Californai to Virginia.

Retailers from Wal-Mart and Winn Dixie have voluntarily removed tomatoes from their stores.

The source of the salmonella poisoning from tomatoes is still under investigation.

Senator Larry Craig is writing a book. A book about being arrested for soliciting an undercover police officer. The Senator’s book is reportedly about how he felt about being arrested. A book about how Senator Craig felt about being ‘falsely’ accused of being gay. How the Senator felt about being treated like a criminal by the police, just because he has a wide-stance when he goes to the bathroom. The inhumanity! How can the police accuse a respected non-gay Senator that just happens to have wide stance when he’s taking a dump?

I can´t wait to read how mistreated he was and he only pleaded guilty to try and keep the entire process out of the press and keep his wife and friends out of the public eye. A book about being arrested, a book about being treated bad by the police, a book about how he´s not gay, a book about how after pleading guilty only to change his mind after the entire affair was made public, he decided to plead innocent and not gay. The Senator has been pleading not gay for many years. Just because he says it, doesn’t make it true.

And now a book that tells his side of the story, about how he´s not gay and was only minding his own business in an airport bathroom stall that was known to be a gay hook up place. With enough complaints that the police setup a sting operation to encourage the people hooking up to move on to somewhere else.

First of all, who cares? Second, what in the world could be in the book that everyone doesn’t already know? More about the Senators gay denials? A book by a Senator falsely accused of being gay? People are standing in line already and it’s not even out yet. Who’s the idiot publisher that would even give him a deal? It would be a better book if he included his exclusive confession about being gay, hiding it, actually being involved in the Washington DC page scandel back in the 80’s all the efforts he’s had to go through trying to hide his gayness and his guilt of how he’s voted against the entire gay community all of these years in government.

That would be a book that would sell a few copies, unlike his present book deal about how he’s not gay and he was falsely arrested for having a wide stance.

Senator Larry Craig is a Republican, representing the state of Idaho. He has served in the US Senate since 1991 and was in the US House of Representatives before that. In August of 2007 the Capitol Hill newspaper Roll Call rist reported that Senator Craig had been arrested in the men’s restroom at the Minneapolis Saint Paul airport in June 2007 and had pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of disorderly conduct. After the publicity, Senator Craig changed his mind and decided to change his guilty plea to not guilty. Senator Craig announced he was going to resign from the Senate, then a week later changed his mind and decided not to resign. After a Senate ethics committee investigation, Senator Craig is not going to seek re-election in 2008.

Which is about the time his book will come out and this entire debacle will be back in the press and the publicity he doesn’t want, will be on the front page again. Senator Craig writes a book about his bathroom antics and being arrested will be back in the news and he will again get the publicity he doesn’t want.

Obama is not only bad for stocks, but the Obama mania is bad for any other part of the US economy, US foreign policy, US Trade policy and every industry that’s still left in the United States. McCain isn’t that much better on the economy, his major mistake was admitting he wasn’t an expert on the economy, but at least he doesn’t want to implement win-fall profit taxes, higher corporate taxes and higher taxes on the people that create the jobs in America.

A lot of the problems in the economy and the stock market is the uncertainty before any election. This time it’s much worse because the economy was on a downhill slide already. Retailers have already depleted inventory and are not restocking as much because of consumer caution. The housing market has had its ripple effect, when people aren’t buying houses, they don’t need to move or buy new stuff.

Now, small businesses and larger corporations are waiting to see how bad their taxes are going to be before they invest in any large equipment, inventory or more importantly people. If people don’t have jobs, they’re not going to buy as much stuff, it’s a vicious, vicious circle that politicians are ignorant of. Obama thinks that if he robs from the rich corporations and gives to the poor, the poor are taken care of the the rich can take care of themselves. The reality is that the rich people and the rich corporations can take better care of the poor better than the government any day of the week.

If the government doesn’t still money from corporations, they can give that money to charities, have that money to buy new equipment and hire more people. People with jobs buy stuff which sadly, more and more is being made overseas, at least it’s something, until we can boost the manufacturing.

Most manufacturing left the United States because it was easier to compete not only with other overseas corporations but other US based businesses that had already moved their manufacturing overseas. Granted the US has higher labor costs than most third world countries, but thanks to the second highest corporate tax rate in the world, they get hit twice as hard. If the tax rate goes even higher, what corporation is going to want to stay in the US?

If Obama get in the White house with a Democratic Congress, taxes are going up. Everything from capital gains, corporate taxes and taxes on the so-called wealthy. Over 100 thousand usually means a small business owner. Why do all of these politicians hate the rich? Most politicians are very rich. How many give to the poor out of their own free choice (it’s a concept)? The Obamas barely gave 2% of their income to charity. The Clintons aren’t much better, giving most of their charitable giving to their own political <strikeover>slush</strikeover> trust fund.

The stock markets are already reacting to the primaries. Every time Hillary wins a big state the market rallies up a bit. Every time Obama wins a primary, the stock markets goes down. The overall consensus appears that Obama is unstoppable and many Democratic Congressional seats will be won on his coattails to the White House. The market is already predicting a win for Obama and is already counting on higher taxes, which means a much slower economy.

DHL Express is ditching it’s relationship with Wilmington, Ohio bsed ABX Air due to the restructuring of its air transport operations. UPS is only providing the air transport portion for DHL, everything else appears that it’s going to remain the same.

You’ll still see the yellow and red striped trucks driving around, this only affects the DHL packages from airport to airport and not DHL freight only packages.

This is surprising news because ABX had just announced a contract renewal was going to be approved later this year. I bet this is really a surprise to the 7,000 people in the Wilmington, Ohio hub and sorting facility, especially the 1500 that are slated for immediate termination.

This is worth a billion dollars a year for UPS, that said it could easily handle the new traffic with existing equipment. UPS is planning on the delivery of seven new aircraft this year and another five in 2009. While they are still planning on the billion dollar expansion of its Worldport in Louisville, KY

DHL is probably on its way out of the US market, continually osing market share to FEDEX and UPS.Besides this deal, they are cutting their other US network facilities by 30 percent.

DHL is reporting, the “uncertain economic situation in the US.” for the reason for the cutting of its delivery and pickup routes by 17% and the cutting back by 30% at other sorting facilities.

Even though the direct reasons given were not fuel related, the part about the uncertain economic situation is definitely related to the soaring price of fuel which is affecting the entire transportation industry, trucking and airlines are taking nosedives because fuel is having huge repercussions throughout both industries. The package shipping industry is going to be affected just like everything else.

Carriers have to raise prices to cover their costs and consumers are going to be more conscious about shipping a package overnight. Personally, I’ve converted to 2nd day air if I think one day isn’t going to make that much difference. Many times I have to do overnight to beat a deadline, but with a little planning I can ship something 2nd day to save about half the money of overnight.

The high price of diesel right now is only a small part of the puzzle when it comes to operating expenses when owning a truck. Every time hit a benchmark dollar amount the same arguments and complaints came out. Trucking companies and independent owner operator were being put out of business by the high price of diesel.

Which is not exactly true. The price of fuel has always been going up some time faster than others, truck insurance has always gone up, the price of tires and the price of trucks has always gone up. But the price to ship something by truck has gone up also so that trucking companies and owner operators could keep covering their expenses. Trucking companies and truck owners go out of business all of the time even in the good years for a myriad of reasons.

Every time fuel has gone up, the revenue to the truck has gone up, it usually lags behind several weeks and that’s where some of the companies that are only surviving by a thread and have no reserve start having problems. But revenue usually goes up, until now.

Several years ago when the economy was growing, railroads had too much freight they couldn’t handle it all. Trucking got a lot of the railroads overflow. Railroads not only had a tough time handling their freight volume but because they hadn’t invested in equipment or infrastructure, both were falling apart and not able to handle the workload. The railroads have had time to fix that mistake. They are no longer bursting with overflow freight.

The economy has slowed down enough so the rails can handle their freight and there are now too many trucks trying to haul too little freight. Thanks to supply and demand, shippers can get the lowest bid possible from trucks trying to survive. Some will even cut their own throats by hauling something that barely makes them a profit, trying to keep their trucks moving. That’s where trucking companies have problems with the fuel prices. No reserve to begin with and hauling freight at or below cost.
